The s.mask technology partners

Since the beginning of 2017, the two Baden-Württemberg circuit board manufacturers Würth Elektronik (Niedernhall/Schopfheim) and FELA (Villingen/Schwenningen) have been developing an approach to applying a digital, functional 3D surface that is independent of the mask and machinery. This promises to replace the conventional solder resist mask in PCB production in the near future.

The visionary approach in the area of solder resist masks with 3D printing promises entirely new possibilities regarding miniaturisation and a technological quantum leap in PCB production.

With this in mind, FELA and Würth Elektronik are reinforcing their innovative strength by pooling their resources and know-how.

This cooperation is carried out through all levels, from management and the research departments to joint communication. According to Andreas Gimmer, Managing Director of Würth Elektronik CBT in Schopfheim: "From the beginning of our partnership-based cooperation, it has been proven that the collaboration between our companies has generated a variety of synergistic effects. We expect economic success, but we also find that joint research and development is simply fun."

Current technical developments and customer requirements are dealt with as partners, in order to make them sustainable. In addition to the exchange of results and addressing a wide field of research, the time to secure integration in the process chain is shortened.
